What is coaching, exactly β€” and how is it different from consulting or therapy?

Coaching is a forward-focused, collaborative partnership in which the coach works with a client to clarify their vision, identify what's in the way, and build the internal and external capacity to move forward. Unlike consulting, coaching does not deliver solutions or expertise β€” it develops the client's own capacity to think, decide, and act with greater clarity. Unlike therapy, coaching does not treat mental health conditions or process past trauma. ArcWorks coaches are trained to make referrals when coaching is not the appropriate modality.
What does an engagement typically look like?

Most individual coaching engagements run 6–12 months with bi-weekly 60-minute sessions, though every engagement is scoped to fit the client's situation. Organizational engagements vary more widely β€” from a single onsite to multi-year embedded partnerships. Every engagement begins with a discovery conversation, followed by a clear proposal outlining scope, outcomes, cadence, and investment.
How do you measure impact?

ArcWorks measures coaching effectiveness beyond satisfaction. We track observable behavior change that others can see, decision quality and velocity under pressure, leader self-regulation in high-stakes moments, team health indicators (psychological safety, trust, retention, conflict quality), and reduction in coach dependency over time. We use pre- and post-360s, stakeholder feedback, Thrill Forms after every session, and post-engagement interviews for organizational clients.
Are your coaches certified?

All ArcWorks coaches (Arcitects) have completed β€” or are in the process of completing β€” ArcType Coach Certification, which includes demonstrated ontological formation, not just technical competency. Many also hold credentials from the International Coaching Federation (ICF) or other recognized bodies. You can ask any ArcWorks coach directly about their certifications and experience.
What does it cost?

ArcWorks coaching is priced to reflect the seriousness of transformation work and the caliber of the practitioners delivering it. Individual coaching typically ranges from $X–$X per month depending on scope and duration. Organizational engagements are scoped and priced based on complexity, size, and deliverables. We are happy to discuss investment on a discovery call β€” and we will always tell you honestly if ArcWorks is or isn't the right fit for your budget.
How is ArcWorks different from other coaching firms?

Most coaching operates at the level of behavior: helping people do things differently. ArcWorks operates at the level of being: helping leaders become someone new β€” someone whose natural actions are the ones the situation requires. Results are dramatic and lasting because they are grounded in identity shifts, not performance tricks. The ARC Journey (Awaken, Renew, Create) is not a methodology we apply to clients β€” it is a formation process we ourselves inhabit.
